Adlena Marie "Susie" Ramos

Adlena Marie "Susie" Ramos, a Eureka resident for 76 years, passed away on January 21st at the age of 92. Susie was born on March 12, 1928, in Ferndale to Manuel Silvera Luis and Ludovina Augusta Costa, both of whom immigrated from the island of Terceira in the Azores. She was predeceased by her parents and all seven of her siblings. She was married to David Ramos for 57 years until his death in 2005.

An avid sports fan, she was a long-time season ticket holder and booster club member for Humboldt State University basketball. She celebrated her 80th birthday by attending spring training baseball games in Arizona, and her 85th & 90th birthdays attending hockey games featuring her favorite team, the San Jose Sharks, all of these with the whole family along with her.
She enjoyed staying busy and being helpful, and weekly activities like counting money at Sacred Heart Church and volunteering her time for the last 25 years at Hospice of Humboldt gave her purpose that kept her young. The family would like to extend an extra special thank you to all of her Humboldt County friends and relatives who did so much for her over the last few years.

Susie is survived by her five children, Robert, Susan, Ron and his wife Shellie, Mark and Debra, and her five grandchildren, Jessica, Jesse, Matt, Jill and Taylor. Many thanks to the staff at Timber Ridge for keeping her safe and comfortable over her last few months. She will be interred at Ocean View Cemetery to be reunited with her husband Dave.
