Arlene Roberg Obituary

It is with great sadness and some small sense of relief that we say goodbye to 'Mom' after a short illness. She had just celebrated her 101st birthday with family and friends on July 9, 2022.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Richard (Sharon) Roberg, grandson Patrick (Jessica), granddaughter Nikki and granddaughter Kerri Fitzgerald (Dennis), 5 great-grandchildren Adele, Sonja, Bridgette, Elizabeth and James. Also mourning her loss is her daughter Beth (Cross) and her grandsons Conor and Aiden Munson. She will be greatly missed by her sister, Clio Genene Murty of Waterloo, Iowa, and her nephew Lance (Mary) and niece Vicki Wiese (John). She is pre-deceased by her husband of almost 60 years, Olaf.

Anyone who knew Mom knew that she liked to talk and laugh. She definitely had the 'gift of gab' and is no doubt telling stories in heaven at this very moment. Her sense of humor was loved by many and she had friends wherever she went.

She spent many happy hours with friends at the Humboldt Senior Center, both as a volunteer and as a regular there for lunch. She sang with the Golden Aires for many years.

In her later years, she'd sit out in the front yard and talk to strangers walking by, who soon became friends too.
Arlene and Ole married in 1939 in Albion, Nebraska where they were both born. They lived in many different places during the course of their marriage and after retirement, moved to Eureka from Santa Ana, California in 1986. They loved the Pacific Northwest.

Arlene worked at a few places during her earlier years in Southern California. The role of 'housewife' wasn't for her. Her favorite job was working for a greeting card company in Anaheim and then later for a data processing firm. Many of her co-workers also became long-time friends.

Our thanks go out to St. Joseph's Hospital and Humboldt Hospice for their excellent care in the last remaining days of Arlene's life. Also, our thanks and deep gratitude to Sharon Wheeler for her devotion to Mom in her final days and hours. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Humboldt Hospice or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Humboldt Senior's Center at 1910 California St. on Friday August 12th at 1:00pm.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
