Irma Marquardt Obituary

Irma Marquardt went to be with her Lord on June 19, 2018. Born August 26, 1969, Irma was considered unadoptable due to her severe handicaps. She lived in a small institution until, Betty and Ray Marquardt met her while visiting their daughter at her workplace, the institution where Irma lived. Betty could not get Irma off of her mind, and felt the Lord leading her to adopt her. This was considered impossible until their long-time neighbor attorney Philip Arnot intervened. He did Irma's legal work for the rest of her life! Through many God given miracles, she came to be a part of the Marquardt family at 5 years of age. They were told at this age that she would never live long. Irma survived major hip surgery, many week-long trips to Philadelphia for an aggressive therapy program, having over 100 volunteers at one time, followed by trips to Stanford, Medford, and pursuing every therapy available to help her achieve her maximum potential.

Irma's best quality was her beautiful smile, which she shared frequently as long as you did not block her favorite TV show! She was always cared for by family until Betty's health deteriorated. Caregivers were brought in through RCRC and her amazing case worker Beth. Irma graduated from Hospice twice in the last few years, despite being told there was no chance of survival.

God has his mighty hand on Irma all of her life, from answering her biological mother's daily prayer that she be adopted until His perfect timing to take her to her eternal home. Because of Jesus, death is swallowed up in victory! Ray was with Irma to the end. She would light up whenever he entered the room.

The family would like to thank greatly all of Irma's "SPECIAL" helpers, past and present, especially those that were there through the difficult years since Betty's death!
