Paul Philipp Jr. Obituary

On the morning of Saturday, 12/12/2020, Paul Philipp,Jr left his friends and family to go be with his Lord Jesus.

Paul was born in 1945 to Paul and Rose Philipp and his sister Pamela. He lived in VanNuys, CA and became a cub scout, a tap dancer and a piano and accordion player. He also helped welcome his brother, Walt, and sister, Annette, into the Philipp family. In 1954 Paul and his family moved to Ventura, CA. He graduated from Ventura High School and went on to major in architecture at the University of Southern California.

He loved to draw and after moving around the country he finally found his place and home in Eureka, CA. There he joined the art community and made many friends. He perfected his drawing and painting techniques and was a member of the Humboldt Arts Council. Unfortunately, early on he had a stroke. This made his life difficult but he didn't stop drawing and painting. He joined the Art for Life program run by Jan Ramsey, who helped him display his drawings and paintings around town. He also volunteered at the Morris Graves Museum of Art directing visitors around the museum and explaining the displays of the different artists. He worked with Easter Seals to help him exercise after his stroke and even was a spokesperson for them during their yearly telethon. Unfortunately, his body was tiring out but he still kept up his love of art by coloring.

When he broke his hip he moved to his final facility, Granada Care and Rehabilitation where he was loved and taken care of through his final minutes.

Thank you to everyone in Eureka who took care of Paul, helped him continue his love of art and became part of his life throughout his years in Eureka.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, Paul, mother, Rose, and his brother in law, Silas. He leaves behind his 2 sisters, Pamela and Annette and brother in law, Michael, his brother Walt and his sister in law, Carol. He also leaves behind 8 nieces and nephews and 12 grand nieces and nephews.

After death Paul was lovingly taken care of by Sanders Funeral Home in Eureka, CA. Paul's body will make its final journey back to Ventura to be buried beside his father and mother at Ivy Lawn cemetery in Ventura, CA.
