Peggy Charlene Dodson, born March 9, 1934, to Lillian Forest Armstrong Dodson and Robert Sidney Dodson Jr, and passed away on September 21, 2021, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born and raised Nowata, Oklahoma. When she was 16, she moved to Menlo Park, Calif. where she graduated from Menlo-Atherton High School in 1952. That same year, on October 15, she married Joe Marvel. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Eureka, where she lived the rest of her life. She and Joe Marvel have five children. To support her family she took in linens for ironing, worked in clerical and eventually opened her own business PMB (a medical billing service). Known for her hospitality, she continually served homemade baked goods, a hot cup of coffee, and a listening ear. While she was able, she maintained a flower garden, enjoyed cross word puzzles, and always had a needle work project in the works. She was a strong woman of faith who attended multiple churches in the area and regularly held Bible studies in her home.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband of 9 yrs. Joe Neil Marvel (1961), husband of 35 yrs. Everett Collins Lovell (1998), infant granddaughter, Jessica Marvel and infant grandson, James Marvel. She is survived by her husband of 19 yrs. Larry Lightfoot, her children Linda (Dave) Curtis, Larry (Kellie) Marvel, Joe (Pam) Marvel, Diane (Brad) Langlois, and Jim Marvel, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Viewing hours will be held on October 5, from 5-7 p.m. at Sanders Funeral Home. Family members are invited to the graveside service held on October 6, 10 a.m. at Ocean View Cemetery. All are invited to a Celebration of Life Service to be held at Fresh Water Park at 1 p.m.
