Sanders Funeral Home has been serving Humboldt County families in their time of need for more than 113 years. We have a long history of caring, compassionate service for both the deceased and their loved ones planning a final goodbye. We are consistently told that our staff has made a difficult time easier for the families we serve.
We believe that end-of-life ceremonies should both honor the dead and celebrate the life they lived. Our specialty is creating and arranging ceremonies that are as unique as the people they honor. From full military honors to unique ceremonies representing the special characteristics of the deceased, we work hard to help families tell the story of their loved one and plan fitting sendoffs for them. We are happy to help customize something truly unique—tell us your ideas, even if they don’t immediately seem possible, we will advise and do our best to get as close as possible; we never mind getting creative and always provide something really special.
In addition to that, we work with families to pre-plan their end-of-life services. People pre-plan for a number of reasons: to ensure their wishes are known; to spare their survivors the stress of making arrangements after a loss; and for peace of mind. We believe pre-planning is a beautiful gift you can give your family.
Sandra Kutzkey

Sandy
Kutzkey has been in funeral service for over 20 years. While she has worked in Siskiyou and Shasta
counties, Humboldt County is by far her favorite. She moved here in 2011 and is dedicated to
the families she helps and the community she lives in. She is compassionate,
experienced and helps people through a difficult time with confidence and
kindness. Sandy lives in Arcata with her cat, Olive. She enjoys writing poetry and short stories.
Sandy loves to browse through book stores and spends a lot of time at the beach.

Aubree Baker
Operations Manager & Funeral Director
Aubree Baker is a 20-year resident of Humboldt County. He has been a Funeral Director since 2011. He graduated from Humboldt State University in 2009 with a BA in Mathematics and from Abraham Lincoln University in 2020 with a MS in Law. After having worked for a short time in Washington state he has returned home to Humboldt.
His passion is to provide high quality service and compassionate care.
When he is not seeing families you can usually find him reading a history book, playing a poker tournament, or enjoying the natural beauty of the North Coast.

Austin Alexander
Pre-Need Specialist & Funeral Service Arrangement Counselor
Austin Alexander moved from Guam to Humboldt County with his family in 2007 and has been living and working in the area ever since. He graduated from Humboldt State University in 2014 with a BA in Film and started working at Sanders as a Funeral Pre-need Sales Agent and Arranger in 2022.
He enjoys meeting with families and educating them on the many benefits of making final arrangements beforehand.
When he is not seeing families or working a service you can usually find him at a local disc golf course or enjoying one of Humboldt's many scenic beaches or rivers.

Bee Laurenson
Funeral Service Arrangement Counselor
Hi my name is Rebecca Laurenson but I go by Bee for short. I recently graduated Cal Poly Humboldt with a Bachelors, received my Funeral Arranger license and have worked in the industry for a little under a year. I've always been interested in the Funeral Industry since I was in High School and soon later I found out that there are other Morticians/Funeral arrangers in my family before me. Outside of work, I enjoy reading and taking walks through the redwoods.

Megan Weshnak

Hello! I’m Megan Weshnak, an Apprentice Embalmer and Operations Specialist here at Sanders Funeral Home. My background in cosmetology allows me to bring a unique perspective to my work, ensuring that every individual is treated with the utmost care and respect. When I’m not at work, I cherish every moment spent with my young son, who brings endless joy and inspiration to my life.
I also have a passion for stand-up comedy, a pursuit that allows me to connect with others through laughter and light-heartedness. Balancing my roles as a mother, embalmer, and comedian gives me a diverse and fulfilling life. I am proud to be part of a team that values compassion and dignity, and I am committed to providing comfort and support to families during their times of need.

Ava Bazard-Tramblie
Funeral Home Assistant
I'm Ava, this job is quite literally my dream job. I'm very honored and so fulfilled to work here. I've had a long-standing interest in this industry due to the sudden loss of my father at a very young age as well as a natural inclination for the unknown. I love art that's not trying to be art, my wife, fashion, music, comedy, my two tiny dogs, and historical documentaries. It's beautiful how much love and care everyone puts in. I will always consider myself lucky to be a part of this.
Arianna Grinager
Lead Administration
Arianna Grinager transferred to Humboldt from SoCal to complete her degree at Humboldt State University in 2016. She graduated with her BA in Psychology in 2018 and immediately started working with the Sanders team as a part-time Admin.
She is now the Lead Administrator and loves being a part of the funeral home family and taking part in the papershuffling to give families their last comfort.
In her downtime, she loves to read comics, play video games with her husband, and play with her energetic cats.
Peggy Patejuk
Administrative Assistant
Peggy Patejuk, a retired Law Enforcement/911 dispatcher, is Sander's Administrative Assistant. A recent transplant from San Bernardino County, Peggy, and her children are loving living in Humboldt County and taking advantage of the beautiful scenery and outstanding weather.
Peggy is an avid crafter and is a proud mother and grandmother to her furry grandkids.
